We picked up this 1964 El Camino at a swap meet held at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. Originally an Arizona car, it’s impressively solid with minimal surface rust, no visible holes, and an overall clean, straight body.
We’ve been driving it back and forth from the shop on parts runs - it’s a fun, reliable cruiser. Recent maintenance and updates include:
- Upgraded to a 1970s-style HEI ignition
- Replaced spark plugs
- Installed a new 600 CFM, 4-barrel electric choke carburetor
- Compression test completed (130–135 psi across all cylinders)
- New valve cover gaskets and spark plugs installed
- Replaced leaking brake vacuum booster
- Updated the upholstery
- Sound deadened and heat insulated the cab
- Installed a new radio with kick panel speakers
Highlights:
- 283 V8 Engine, 4BBL
- 2-Speed Powerglide Transmission
- Factory Air Conditioning
- Factory Power Steering & Power Brakes
- New Tires
- All Gauges Function Properly
- 93,800 Miles
Overall, this El Camino is a clean, solid driver - simply enjoy as-is on the open road.
